As we head into this next season, you may hear a lot about new routines, fresh starts, and the excitement of a blank slate. While all of that is important, I've found myself reflecting more deeply on something else—something that truly shapes the course of our lives: the relationships we invest in, the values we hold dear, and the leaders we choose to follow.
John Maxwell, a master of leadership, speaks about the three questions that people instinctively ask of their leaders:
These questions aren't just directed at your boss or a mentor—they apply to anyone you look up to: your coach, your partner, your friends. They are the yardstick by which we measure the influence and impact of those around us.
As you take inventory of the people you surround yourself with, I encourage you to look closely at the leaders in your life—the ones who inspire you, challenge you, and guide you toward your best self. Are these people who help you achieve greatness? Do they live by the values that you hold dear? Do they offer you trust, support, and care in a way that helps you grow?
Remember, as John Maxwell wisely said, “The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things." In this season of reflection and renewal, let’s focus on who we are becoming and who we are becoming that with. The people you choose to follow, to learn from, and to invest in will play a crucial role in your journey.
I am committed to walking this path with you, embracing the values that lead us to greatness, and offering the trust, help, and care that every great leader should provide. Together, let's make this season not just about what we do, but about who we are, and who we are becoming.
